Along the Guildwood stretch of Kingston Road, an area mostly occupied by low-rise homes and shopping plazas, a proposed project has plans to shake things up a bit.
Markham-based builder, Angil Development, has put forward a site plan approval application to build a two-building, mixed-use community at 4212 Kingston Road, just west of the Galloway and Kingston Roads intersection. The two structures, which would top 219 square meters of retail space and include 307 residential units, would be built 12 and eight storeys high. A motel and car dealership currently occupy the lot in question.

A total of 19,433 square metres of residential space would be constructed, making way for 62 bachelor units, 100 one-bedroom, 113 two-bedroom and 32 three-bedroom residences. An underground parking garage would provide 295 vehicle spaces, along with nine surface parking spots and 234 bike spaces.
The tallest building will directly face Kingston Road, and include a three-storey corridor leading to a surface parking lot at the rear, plus an additional tiered building with layered elevations joined into the west side of the structure. The smaller building will run diagonally along the east side of the lot. All of the buildings will have cool and green roofs.
While few details have been provided in regards to amenities, the future development appears to include an outdoor landscaped courtyard as per the architectural drawings.
Down the street, near Galloway Road and Lawrence Avenue East, a mid-rise condo building is in planning. The Brownstones hope to build an 11-storey, 216-unit development at 201 Galloway Road, directly across the street from Morningside Park.
