Creating a sense of seclusion in a city of nearly four million people is no easy feat. Nestled in the Crestwood Hills neighborhood of Brentwood, 2188 Mandeville Canyon Road is a newly-built estate designed to deliver the utmost privacy on four sprawling acres.
The powerhouse team behind this contemporary-style residence consists of architect Noah Walker, interior designer Jamie Bush and landscape designer Christine London. Together, they have forged a home with a sense of place, inspired by its natural surroundings and the California lifestyle.

Comprising six bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, the nearly 19,000-square-foot home is located at the end of a long private driveway. The stacked volumes are a sight to behold, framing vistas that extend across the canyon to the ocean. At 925 square feet, the four-car garage is bigger than most Los Angeles apartments and is accompanied by four additional outdoor parking spaces.

Inside, the home is warm and inviting with lofty 13-foot ceilings clad in Danish white oak. Operable glass wall systems are paired with steel-framed windows to welcome in natural light, and many of the walls are textured with stone, plaster or wood treatments. The interiors adhere to a warm, neutral color palette and are staged with one-of-a-kind vintage furniture pieces.

To make the vast, open spaces feel more intimate, the design team focused on scale and proportion. In the kitchen, an elongated island topped with Italian marble incorporates a six-seater table, while an oversized range hood serves as a commanding focal point. This magazine-worthy space is equipped with Miele appliances, oak cabinetry and a cozy breakfast nook.

The formal dining room features a harvest table suitable for large gatherings that’s anchored by two woven chandeliers. Meantime, the indoor/outdoor living room lends luxury ski chalet vibes with a stone-surround fireplace and warm wood accents. Tucked behind one of the many lounge areas is a sleek bar with illuminated open shelving.

A curvilinear staircase made of wood and metal leads to the upstairs bedrooms and a workspace. This inspiring office — one of two throughout the home — boasts concealed storage and floating corner shelves that would make for an attractive Zoom background. The space opens onto a generous outdoor terrace complete with verdant views and a fire pit.

The primary suite occupies an entire wing of the home, with a double-sided fireplace to separate the sleeping quarters from the sitting area. There are dual walk-in closets with Italian-designed organizing systems and balconies that overlook the grassy backyard. Primed for relaxation, the ensuite bathroom includes opposing vanities, a freestanding soaker tub and a walkout to an outdoor seating area.

Spanning over two acres, the levelled grounds include flower, herb and vegetable gardens, plus a variety of fruit trees. The stand-alone pool house boasts an outdoor shower, pool table, bathroom and bar area, sitting adjacent to the 75-foot, Lautner-edge pool and eight-person jacuzzi.
