Construction work has started at 221 West 29th Street in Chelsea, according to photos a tipster sent us.
CBSK Ironstate first filed permits for a new building at a parking lot site in January. Goldstein, Hill & West is designing the mostly residential development, located between Seventh and Eighth avenues.
Initial permits indicated that the project would rise 15 stories with 67 units, but the developer is aiming higher, YIMBY reported; if approved for an inclusionary housing bonus by the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, it will be 21 stories tall, with 95 units over 102,086 square feet. Of the apartments, 19 will be affordable.
The project will include 24-hour attended parking, bicycle parking and a sliver of ground-floor retail.
