Back in the days when telephones were not portable and calling someone, rather than texting, did not induce anxiety, there was a practical piece of furniture known as the “gossip bench.” The seat and its attached tabletop became a common feature of households during the 1950s and 60s. While the gossip bench no longer serves its original purpose, it is the perfect addition to an entryway or mudroom.
