Lane Partners, the developer that’s helping Uber bring its headquarters to Oakland, is now also slated to build a massive mixed-use development known as Eastline right above the BART line in downtown Oakland. Construction is expected to begin in 2018.
The Eastline site is located exactly one block north of where Uber’s headquarters will be, and at 1.3 million square feet will be over three times the size of that building. It promises to be another striking new addition the city’s quickly changing skyline.
All told, the development will have 800,000 square feet of office and retail space, 18,000 square feet of art space and 31,000 square feet of open space. It will also devote 400,000 square feet to 388 new housing units.
Drew Haydel, principal at Lane Partners, told The San Francisco Business Times last week, “[w]e want a very vibrant site that’s active at all times of the day. The best way to create that is through true mixed-use project.”
Lane Partners won “Developer of the Year” at the Association of Silicon Valley Broker Annual Awards Banquet in March, and appears committed to the rapidly developing Oakland community. “The core spirit of EASTLINE is to engage the community and reflect its wants and needs. We are enlisting you — the Oakland community — to help it develop and thrive,” the Eastline website says.
