Griffintown has it all — trendy galleries, local micro-breweries, lush parkland and upscale restaurants. The neighbourhood’s west end, once home to factories and redbrick workers’ houses, is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after destinations for new homebuyers.
NOCA by DevMcGill is the latest development to take hold in the area, containing 300 condominiums divided into three phases. The project caters to a diverse clientele — buyers may choose from studios, lofts, one to three bedroom condos, penthouses and townhomes.
On Wednesday, May 3rd DevMcGill hosted a pre-launch event at Restaurant Le Richmond, located just around the corner from the construction site at 1550 Rue Basin. Attendees were given an exclusive first look at floorplans, renderings and pricing for the development.
The first phase of NOCA will include 99 units spread out over eight floors. Floorplans range from 300 square foot “micro condos” to spacious, 1,200 square foot residences. Suites will be outfitted with sleek, built-in appliances such as an induction cooktop, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and microwave. Occupancy for NOCA phase one is slated for fall 2019.
The building façades will be a mixture of brick, glass and metal. Montreal’s own Provencher_Roy designed the community with an emphasis on connectivity to the surrounding landscape. The buildings are separated by pathways that allow for easy access to the Lachine Canal, and the majority of condos feature water or skyline views.
NOCA will offer an exciting array of social and recreational amenities, including workspaces, a conference room, catering kitchen, tiered auditorium and multifunctional exercise room. The sun-soaked rooftop boasts an outdoor swimming pool, relaxing lounge area and barbecues. There are also self-service bicycles with a convenient repair station that’s stocked with tools, as well as rental kayaks which residents can launch from a nearby dock. The development will even have its own app for booking common areas or services.
NOCA is within walking distance of Atwater Market, the Corona Theatre, Bell Centre, L’École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), and even downtown. The neighbourhood is home to hot spots such as Restaurant Grinder, Brasseur de Montreal, Le Richmond Marché italien and the ever-changing Division Gallery.
