Bedford-Stuyvesant (Bed-Stuy) could be one of New York City’s last best-kept secrets. A family-centric neighborhood steeped in local traditions — like lining stoops with colorful spring flowers — Bed-Stuy is seeing a surge of real estate development, blending old Bed-Stuy with exciting new possibilities.

But while rampant residential and commercial development has infiltrated many Brooklyn neighborhoods (think Williamsburg), Bed-Stuy has somehow managed to maintain its character.

Despite urban redevelopment and the early stages of gentrification setting in, new Bed-Stuy still feels — and looks — like old Bed-Stuy. Neighborhood staples can now be found alongside recent arrivals, like the upscale eatery L’Antagoniste, in addition to a plethora of new businesses opening up along Fulton Street.

Many homebuyers — and even developers — who were left out of the Williamsburg housing boom are looking to Bed-Stuy as a place to do business and a place to call home. Everywhere you look, brownstones are getting a face-lift as interest in the area spikes. Word is getting out about this up-and-coming Brooklyn neighborhood.

A huge part of Bed-Stuy’s appeal is its convenient access to the A and C trains, which puts you in Downtown Manhattan in thirty-minutes and Midtown in forty.

And for now, at least, Bed-Stuy’s development seems to be toeing the line between gentrification change and neighborhood change. For example, many retailers are discovering the possibilities of Bed-Stuy and setting up shop in long-vacant storefronts. But these shops fit in and add to the neighborhood’s existing flavor, rather than spoiling the diverse recipe that is Bed-Stuy.

577 Madison Street, developed by  The Pros Developments, is a unique collection of boutique townhouse-style condos that stands in the heart of the neighborhood on a quaint and quintessential Bed-Stuy street. It houses six distinct residences, ranging in size from 404 square feet to 1,044 square feet. Residences are a mix of duplex one- to three-bedrooms and one studio.

Many residences include private outdoor space with custom-built grilling stations. Two units also include private rooftop space.

Like Bed-Stuy itself, residences are a seamless blend of modern and vintage design. Kitchens boast a modern farmhouse aesthetic with stunning cast iron sinks, while the vintage bathrooms feature cast iron clawfoot tubs. Victorian high tank pull chain toilettes add a touch of 19th century elegance to the washrooms.

Homes include many “smart” high-tech additions, like NEST brand thermostats, Amazon Alexa, WEMO WiFi dimmerlight switches and an iRobot Roomba vacuum with wireless connectivity.

Pricing for available units at 577 Madison Street starts at $499,000. Sales are being handled exclusively by The InHouse Group.

Don’t miss your chance to own in one of Brooklyn’s most vibrant areas.
