Cobble Hill is Brooklyn’s answer to Manhattan’s West Village neighborhood.
With a casual, laid-back vibe, Cobble Hill is perhaps best known for its hip cafes, indie shops, relaxed bars and casual dining opportunities. Chic boutiques and specialty food markets help further Cobble Hill’s trendy image.
Bordering on Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens and the Columbia Street Waterfront District neighborhoods, Cobble Hill is a relatively safe area made up primarily of tree-lined streets with single-family homes and historic brownstones, inhabited by young professionals and families alike.
The northern part of Cobble Hill’s Smith Street is known as Brooklyn’s “Restaurant Row” due to the sheer number of diverse eateries and watering holes that line the street. Smith Street has become Cobble Hill’s nightlife hub.
Although the area is only comprised of about 40 blocks, it continues to be a hotbed of new construction activity. As buyers seek more affordable housing deeper in Brooklyn, they are discovering Cobble Hill’s many allures — and comparatively less expensive home prices.
