Liberty Central’s long awaited second tower is quickly rising next door to the first tower, which was completed in 2015. The development by Canalfa Group features two IBI Group-designed condos rising 25- and 27-storeys above East Liberty Street, west of Strachan Avenue in Liberty Village.
Construction on phase two began in 2018 with the excavation of the project’s underground garage. As the structure passed grade level in 2019, the building was joined with the first phase through its podium. Today, the tower is reaching its final height as crews pour concrete for the last couple of floors, so it won’t be long before the project celebrates its topping off. Lower down, glazing and spandrel panels have been installed up to the 17th floor. While there’s still no sign of glazing on the podium levels, beige concrete precast panels are visible which match that of the first tower.
When completed, Liberty Central Phase 2 will add an additional 302 residential units to the vibrant neighbourhood, situated just south of King Street West and minutes from the Lake Shore. Retail spaces are anticipated to open at grade level along with a new private road, separating the complex from the neighbouring residential building under construction at 39 East Liberty Street.
Residents and guests enter through a shared courtyard area into a two-storey lobby, designed to echo the podium’s curvaceous design. In addition to concierge service, residents will have access to a fully-equipped fitness centre, steam rooms, and a multi-purpose party room with a kitchen and lounge area.
With the addition of phase two, new amenities will join the roster, including a games room, media room, yoga studio, additional guest suites and an aqua massage room. Outdoor amenities include a landscaped lounge with a lap pool, hot tub, misting station and barbecue area.
