Barrie’s renowned waterfront is about to get a sleek new addition with the launch of Début Waterfront Residences. The ambitious new condominium by Gary Silverberg will be the city’s tallest structure and promises an elevated lifestyle for not only its residents, but the surrounding community.
To introduce the landmark development, a first-of-its-kind talk show-style video was created to preview the condo that will be at the forefront of the city’s core transformation. With COVID-19 making traditional real estate events an impossibility, a creative new approach was required and has been enthusiastically received. As ‘talk show’ guests, artist-developer Gary Silverberg and managing partner of The Condo Store Marketing Systems, Mark Cohen, explain why Barrie is a city on the rise and how Début will be a game-changer for downtown.
With two 33-storey towers and 272 units in the first tower, Début is the first high-rise condo in Barrie and Simcoe County. The development is now accepting online registrations, so be sure to visit debutcondos.com to register for the latest updates and to gain priority status.
“The city is becoming very cool with one of the best waterfronts — Barrie has gone progressive about their plans for the downtown core,” said Silverberg. “The city wants a booming downtown core and saw the logic in what we were proposing. Everything has been a collaboration.”
Designed by Oleson Worland Architects and Scott Shields Architects, the two-tower residence looks like something you’d see in downtown Toronto. Its modern architecture features a series of stacked building blocks separated by shifting floorplates, colour palettes and exterior materials. The slender massing of the towers is broken up within rotated sections to maximize lake views while adding a sense of motion to the design. Clean vertical lines and a grid-like facade created by rows of large windows and integrated balconies add to its dynamic presence on Barrie’s waterfront. The towers are connected together and anchored to the pedestrian realm through a six-storey, red brick retail/commercial podium with curated shops and a pedestrian arcade.
The residences will appeal to a wide range of buyers, from first-time buyers to downsizers who will live there full-time, to those seeking a second residence.
“The building is modelled after the lifestyle in a place like Whistler,” said Silverberg. “Instead of a mountain at your door, you have Lake Simcoe at your door.”
Located at 55 Dunlop Street West, Début features an idyllic location steps from Heritage Park, Centennial Park Beach and the shores of Lake Simcoe. It’s an area that offers an urban lifestyle, great amenities and the best of Canadian outdoor living, including 6.7 kilometers of waterfront trails. A stroll down Dunlop Street West finds you in the heart of downtown Barrie’s retail and commercial hub with local restaurants, art galleries, boutique shops and charming cafes.
Within the development, residents will benefit from a long list of onsite amenities designed with health, relaxation and entertaining in mind. The seventh floor amenity space boasts indoor and outdoor dining rooms, an outdoor infinity plunge pool and fire pit. There’s also an outdoor amphitheatre, boardroom and business centre — just an elevator ride away from your suite.
Suites boast open-concept layouts with state-of-the-art finishes, gourmet kitchens and spa-inspired bathrooms. Plus, flexible designs maximize space and allow for multiple uses, such as an in-suite gym that can also be used as a guest room, den or office.
