A new Gene Kaufman-designed hotel is landing at 8 Maiden Lane in the Financial District.
The 25-story, 191-room development will be located between Broadway and Liberty Place, according to a plan exam application filed October 9th. The 75,742-square-foot project will be capped by a 25th-floor bar with an outdoor terrace.
Looks like the developer has dropped $12.7 million to buy two properties at 8 Maiden and 10-12 Maiden; a four-story building at 8 Maiden sold for $5.6 million in August to 10-12 MLane, LLC, according to public records. The seller was Rusdan Operating Corp, which had owned the lot since 1978.
In August 2012, the developer purchased a five-story mixed-use building at 10-12 Maiden, The New York Observer reported. The new owners, a syndication of local Chinese buyers, had plans to build a hotel “along the lines of a Holiday Inn,” according to the Observer.
Coincidentally, that block is already home to a Holiday Inn at 51 Nassau Street. Also known as 20 Maiden Lane, that hotel was a Sam Chang project designed by… Gene Kaufman.
Kaufman reigns! Everything that Kaufmans must converge!
