The eco-luxe 1 Hotel at Pierhouse at Brooklyn Bridge Park is slated to open later this year.
The complex, designed by Marvel Architects, includes a 200-room Starwood Hotel and a 108-condo building in Brooklyn Heights. Toll Brothers City Living and Starwood Capital collaborated on the project, which features the first newly constructed homes in the park.
The environmentally mindful hotel, named 1 Brooklyn Bridge Park, will bring the natural elements indoors. Inspired by shipping containers, pilings and pier structures, the building incorporates board formed concrete and exposed mechanicals. The hotel will feature a signature restaurant by renowned chef Seamus Mullen, spa, gym and sprawling terrain rooftop with bar, pool and views of Manhattan.
The project’s residential component, which will open in mid-2016, also takes in the outdoors; for contextual appeal, Jonathan Marvel cladded the apartment building’s base in the same granite used in the Brooklyn Bridge. Setbacks create a cliff-like silhouette and allow for terraces in 80 percent of the apartments. The interiors are lined with pine planks reclaimed from former warehouses on the piers, and every home is equipped with an automatic composter.
The condominium amenities encompass more than 12,000 square feet of space, including a gym, children’s playroom and bike storage. Residents of Pierhouse will have access to all of the amenities at 1 Brooklyn Bridge Park.
