Gaze upon 111 West 57th Street, the world’s skinniest skyscraper (trembling optional).
The teaser site is out for JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group’s slender, grandiose skyscraper, along with a new rendering that makes neighboring One57 look like a curvy pustule on the face of Billionaire’s Row.
The 1,428-foot-tall project, designed by SHoP Architects, will start sales later this year. 111 West 57th will have just 60 units — 46 units in the new-construction tower itself and 14 in the adjacent landmark Steinway Hall building, which the developers acquired for $46.3 million.
Pricing at the condominiums will start at $14 million, according to the teaser site. Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is handling sales and marketing for the property.
When complete, 111 West 57th will best the height of 1,396-foot-tall 432 Park Avenue, which topped out in October 2014, making it the current tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere. However, JDS and PMG’s skyscraper will be bested in turn by Extell’s Nordstrom Tower at 225 West 57th Street, which will ultimately rise 1,775 feet tall — a symbolic one foot shorter than One World Trade Center’s 1,776 feet.
The teaser site helpfully provides a list of structures that 111 West 57th is taller than:
432 Park (New York) – 1,396 feet
Empire State Building (New York) – 1,250 feet
Eiffel Tower (Paris, France) – 1,063 feet

Pyramids of Giza (Giza, Egypt) – 455 feet
