EV Grieve has been assiduously following the progress of 137 Avenue C, which Corigin is gut renovating.
The four-story walk-up building between Eighth and Ninth streets is getting another floor, and the number of units will be reduced from six to four, according to permits filed November 2013 and partially issued earlier this month. Issac and Stern Architects is the architect of record; the apartments will all be full-floor units, the Schedule A filing indicates.
After renovations, the five-story, 4,650-square-foot building will have four three-bedroom, two-bathroom units above ground-floor retail, according to the project’s Fundrise profile page. The development is anticipated to cost approximately $5.3 million, including property acquisition and construction costs.
Corigin purchased the property in February 2013 via 137 Avenue C LLC, according to public records. The 3,540-square-foot building consisted of six apartments and one ground-floor commercial space. The structure sits on a 20′ by 75′ lot.
The building was formerly home to drunk brunch hotspot the Sunburnt Cow, which closed in April after 11 years, EV Grieve reported.
