A new four-story building is coming to 34 Conselyea Street in Williamsburg.
The 42-foot-tall development, located between Union Avenue and Lorimer Street, will have four apartments and measure 3,696 square feet. Melamed Architect is the architect of record, according to the plan exam application filed today.
34 Conselyea was formerly home to a brick building that collapsed in March 2010, injuring at least four people, The Brooklyn Paper reported. The low-rise residential building was under construction when it crumbled in the afternoon, briefly trapping one worker, who was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center in critical condition. The other workers sustained minor injuries.
The building was the childhood home of AptsandLofts’ David Maundrell. His mother, Lucille, was renovating the property with plans for an additional floor and penthouse, The Real Deal reported.
David Maundrell told The Real Deal that he had worked on the building before, but that he was not affiliated with it at the time of the collapse. A demolition permit for the damaged three-story structure was filed in May 2010.
In November 2013, Lucille Maundrell sold the lot to Conselyea Residence LLC for $1.15 million. The site came with about 3,750 buildable square feet, according to the TerraCRG listing.
