Brooklyn-based developer CS Management is building a 44-unit project at 420 Tompkins Avenue in Bed-Stuy.
The six-story building, located between Hancock and Halsey streets, will be designed by Charles Mallea Architect, according to the plan exam application filed December 19th. The 30,704-square-foot development will have an exercise room, laundry room, bike storage and lounge.
The site was formerly home to a paint store, Brooklyn Weinstein Paint & Home Center. The developer acquired the property in 2006 for $1.065 million from Warren Weinstein, according to public records.
In October, CS acquired a development site at 657-665A Fifth Avenue in South Slope for $8.5 million, The Commercial Observer reported. The site consists of four three-story mixed-use buildings and one three-story loft building. The property encompasses more than 30,000 square feet and has an additional 7,500 square feet in air rights.
The developer planned to reposition all five buildings into a mixed-use project, The Commercial Observer reported. Indeed, permits have been filed: one of the structures at 665 Fifth Avenue will go from three stories and eight units to five stories and 30 units, according to a plan exam application from October 24th. CS will spend an estimated $2.485 million on renovations on the 30,348-square-foot conversion.
