Do you see this scrap metal center at South 4th Street and Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg? It’s now diamonds, and by “diamonds” we mean six spanking new townhouses.
The single-family townhouses at 51 South 4th Street will each have four floors, according to the plan exam application filed January 14th. The architect of record is A+H Architecture. Every new building will have cellar storage and a roof deck. There will also be enclosed parking for six cars.
Judging from the Department of Buildings permits, the new address for the project will be 1-6 Wythe Lane; the first building will be 1 Wythe, the second 2 Wythe and so on, etc, yup. The townhouses will rise next to Havemeyer Park.
A demolition permit was filed January 6th for the existing one-story building on the site. At least part of the property has been owned by G&G Salvage Corp since 1976, according to public records.
The new development will be a block away from The Williamsburg, a rental at 373 Wythe Avenue.
Edit Jan. 16, 4:55pm: An earlier version of the story incorrectly stated that each single-family townhouse would measure 16,492 square feet over four floors. The single-family townhouses will measure 16,492 square feet in total.
