Long-stalled Galerie515 at 515 Ninth Avenue is finally opening this spring, under a new name.
The 12-story Hell’s Kitchen project by Assa Properties will be called Cassa Hotel and Residences (not to be confused with the developer’s hotel-condo at 70 West 45th Street). The building between West 38th and West 39th streets will offer studio to three-bedroom rental apartments, according to the new official site. Douglas Elliman will be handling marketing and leasing.
Permits were first filed in 2006 for a 157-foot-tall, 194-unit mixed-use building. Designed by Costas Kondylis, the development was supposed to start condo sales in 2009, complete with five-star restaurant, rooftop lounge with wet bar and Jacuzzi whirlpool, spa services, parking and gym, Curbed reported. However, the project stalled, and here we are.
Hell’s Kitsch stopped by the development in January and reported that “the building itself is basically ready to go — it’s just the interior, specifically the lobby, that seems to be holding it up.”
The property will have about 3,700 square feet of ground-floor retail space with 13-foot ceilings, according to a commercial listing by Winick Realty Group. Street-level rendering below:
