So much art is happening at 560 West 24th Street, which just started sales.
Adam Gordon and Tavros Development‘s 11-story, 8-unit building was designed by Steven Harris with discerning art collectors in mind. Aside from the 4,900-square-foot gallery anchoring the development, there are six full-floor residences and two duplex penthouses. The available units are a 3,217-square-foot four-bedroom asking $7.25 million and a 4,596-square-foot penthouse asking $18 million.
The building is clad in limestone, with bronze-framed casement windows and decorative bronze balustrades, according to the listings. Interiors have European solid oak floors, plywood-reinforced walls to support heavy picture frames, studies with wood-burning fireplaces, laundry rooms and kitchens appliances by Miele and Sub-Zero. Master bathrooms are wrapped in Calacatta gold marble, with radiant heated floors.
Harris designed the recessed panel doors, which feature octagonal doorknobs by West Village’s P.E. Guerin. The apartments come with multi-zone heating and cooling systems with humidity controls (protect that art!), filtered air, electric shade pockets in all windows, prewiring for audio and lighting controls and gallery-style lighting by Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design.
Douglas Elliman is marketing the property. Occupancy is anticipated for late 2014.
