Work is ongoing at Ben Shaoul’s 31 Second Avenue, which is expected to finish construction in the first quarter of this year.
The developer is adding three new floors of apartments to the existing three-story building, making a total of 10 residential units. Floors 1 through 3 are being remodeled. When completed, the project will measure about 11,586 square feet, according to the plan exam application filed in June 2012.
Pet store chain Petco will open an “Unleashed” store at the ground level, Bowery Boogie reported. The Unleashed by Petco brand, established in 2009, is a smaller, mom-and-pop take on its parent company.
Shaoul acquired the property in late 2011 for $5.6 million, according to public records.
