The Carvalo on College is a seven-storey Studio JCI-designed residence coming soon to 877 College Street in Toronto’s Dufferin Grove neighbourhood. Developed by Clifton Blake, the project is already over 80 percent sold, and despite challenges brought on by the pandemic, construction is well underway.
Although construction officially started in early 2020, crews have been working on the site since 2019 when an existing car dealership and a three-storey apartment building were demolished.
After breaking ground last spring, foundation work commenced with bulk excavation and shoring activities taking place throughout the summer. In September, the Clifton Blake team gathered to celebrate the first pour of concrete, which forms part of the building foundation. As the concrete was poured, coins were thrown into the ground — a tradition that is thought to bring good luck and prosperity as construction continues.
Another milestone was passed in October when the tower crane arrived on site. With the crane up, crews are mobilizing to push the building out of the ground, while maintaining COVID-19 protocols. The developer anticipates construction to rise above grade level this winter and tentative occupancy is scheduled for 2022.
When complete, The Carvalo on College will house 112 units, including 23 premium two-storey suites with an average of over 1,200 square feet of living space. All homes come well-appointed with top-quality features and finishes like wide-plank hardwood floors, durable granite countertops, and fully integrated, top-of-the-line appliances.
Residents will have access to a selection of sought-after amenities, from a private rooftop lounge and patio, to a state-of-the-art fitness centre. Other amenities include a rooftop dog run, wine tasting room and concierge.
