Last month Sotheby’s International Realty made housing history when it sold a home in Calgary for $10.35 million, the most expensive sale ever in the Albertan city.
The French Country-style castle in Aspen Woods was built in 2010 from materials brought in from around the world. According to the Calgary Sun, Indiana limestone from Texas makes up much of the feature stone work, the hand-cut marble floors come from Brazil, designer wallpaper was shipped in from England and the home’s commercial-grade carpet hails from Israel.
While Aspen Woods was marketed globally, the eventual buyers were local couple Larry and Kristi Lindholm. The Sun notes Larry Lindholm is the co-founder of Calgary-based Enerflow Industries Inc., a company that manufactures equipment for oilfield service firms.

Size: 14,500-square-foot home on nearly one-acre of land
Notable features: five-car garage; five bedrooms; nine bathrooms; separate carriage house; 14 walk-in closets; two-storey grand parlor with an eight-foot crystal chandelier; games room with a full-sized bar; nanny suite; yoga and dance studio, wine tasting room; and a full spa.
Basically the only thing the suburban castle is missing is a moat and drawbridge.
