In an effort to promote transit use and ride-sharing, a planned apartment building in Castle Heights would offer special perks for residents. National & Canfield would bring 45 rent-stabilized apartments and five affordable housing units to the high-density neighborhood. Rideshare cars would be provided on-site and Metro passes would be offered to tents seeking to ride the nearby Expo Line. Developer Oakmont Capital is also collaborating with Metro to have bike-share docks placed in front of the building.
A new exterior rendering for the Reed Architectural Group-designed project was revealed this week, showcasing a contemporary facade with an attractive mix of materials. The building would be made up of entirely three-bedroom units with spacious floorplans and private outdoor spaces. The ground floor would feature 25 parking spaces and a welcoming lobby with a mailroom, leasing office and package storage.
A central courtyard would ensure that all units receive plenty of natural light and the sixth floor would tout a fitness center and rooftop terrace for common use. To enliven the streetscape, National & Canfield would also add new trees and landscaping, like colorful crape myrtles and drought-tolerant Blue Fox Tail agave.
Situated at 3301 S. Canfield Avenue, the proposed development would replace a triplex and three single-family homes.
