After building some of Markham’s premier communities including Eden Park and Majestic Court, the Times Group has recently launched the next phase of their latest master-planned community, Uptown Markham. Riverside Uptown Markham marks the development’s third phase consisting of two elegant eight- and 28-storey towers designed by the award-winning Kirkor Architect + Planners team.
Rising above the Rouge River Valley, along Highway 7 between Warden Avenue and Birchmount Road, Riverside Uptown Markham offers prospective homebuyers an ideal location in Markham’s new urban centre. The area is a hotbed of development and is regarded as a model for sustainable development with major projects — including Uptown Markham — built to the latest LEED Gold standards.
In addition to being within walking distance to a wealth of local shops, restaurants and services the community will be within proximity to the future Markham Centre campus of York University.Developed in partnership with Seneca College, City of Markham and the Regional Municipality of York, the 21st century campus is a direct response to the increasing demand for high-quality education in Ontario’s new economy, along with York Region’s growing population.
When it opens in 2019, the campus will welcome over 4,000 students, offer professionally-relevant academic programs and spur economic growth in the already booming urban area.

Located adjacent to the future York University campus, the Markham Pan Am Centre was the home of several sports events at the 2015 Pan American Games including badminton, table tennis and water polo. Today, the 147,000 square foot facility is used as a multi-sport community centre for area residents.
Although Markham Centre is easily walkable from Riverside, the area is also well serviced by 15 transit routes including Viva, YRT, TTC and GO Transit via the Unionville GO station. And with the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system running along Highway 7, commuting across the region is easily accessible, quick and efficient.

Even closer to home, residents of Riverside will be steps from the community’s own shopping complex, Uptown Market. The European-style plaza offers a wide selection of shops, supermarkets and financial institutions including Whole Foods Market, Bed Bath and Beyond, LCBO and a RBC.
While the neighbourhood is dotted with urban amenities, the community also features an abundance of parks including almost 50 acres of green space winding through the Rouge River Valley lands. An additional 1.5 acres of greenspace is planned for the proposed piazza-like public square directly beside Riverside complete with paved walkways, landscaped lawns, a jetting fountain and water feature.
As for in-house amenities, Riverside doesn’t disappoint. The social and recreational amenities start on the ground floor with a lobby designed by Hefele Makowka Design Associates. Finished with polished granite, wood, metal accents and a dramatic accent wall, the reception area provides a warm and elegant entrance.
Behind the 24-hour concierge is a well-equipped fitness centre, outdoor patio, ping pong, billiards and cards lounge, as well as a library/WiFi lounge. A large party room with fireside dining area, bar and kitchen round out the ground floor amenities.
Other amenities include the City of Markham’s first residential rooftop infinity pool with sun deck, landscaped terrace, indoor lounge with dining area, bar and barbecue. Furnished guest suites will also be available for overnight guests.
Over on the site, construction at Riverside is well underway after breaking ground earlier in the year. Over the next few weeks, crews are expected to continue excavating the underground portion before making their way up to ground level in the new year.
Suites at Riverside start in the mid $200,000s and come well-appointed with eight to 10 foot ceilings, stylish plank laminate floors and kitchens with custom designed cabinetry, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.
