Skyline International, a leading Canadian developer of resorts and destination communities, has just announced that it will be investing $10 million in the iconic Deerhurst Resort in Muskoka.

Over two years, the investment will go towards renovating the Skyline-owned guest rooms, bathrooms and corridors. The money will also fund significant upgrades to the Legacy Hall, Compass Lobby Bar, Maple Pub, the Fitness Centre and the waterfront.

The resort has been a staple in the Muskoka community since Charles Waterhouse opened a small summer resort along Peninsula Lake in 1896. Skyline International CEO Michael Sneyd said that the destination is an integral part of the Muskoka experience for visitors.

“Deerhurst is an iconic brand that has been around for over 100 years and will be around for the next 100 years,” he said. “We understand what this brand means to Muskoka and we want to raise people’s expectations of what a visit to Deerhurst can entail.”

He also added that the company decided on what to improve based on feedback from their top clients.

“Everything we have targeted with this $10 million investment is a result of feedback we have been getting from our top client group,” he said. “We have been working on this for a while.”

Skyline’s $10 million investment is part of an even larger-scale $500 million investment in the town of Deerhurst, which will include a new village centre with a Main Street overlooking the lake and the Deerhurst Lakeside Golf Course.

As Skyline plans for this exciting revitalization, they have also just launched the first and last waterfront condominium community at Deerhurst, Lakeside Lodge. With prices starting in the $200,000s, this development marks a unique opportunity for potential buyers to live in a charming waterfront community at an affordable cost.

Raymond Zar, COO of Skyline International, touted the healthy, active lifestyle that Lakeside Lodge encourages.

“Deerhurst may be located in cottage-country, but it isn’t simply a cottage retreat. It’s a community that promotes activity. There is so much potential for outdoor adventure that goes beyond the dock or golf course. With Lakeside Lodge, we wanted to create an ownership experience capturing all sides of life in Muskoka,” he said.

In addition to Deerhurst Resort, Skyline also owns Horseshoe Resort in Barrie and Pantages Hotel and Spa in Toronto.
