If you’ve been lucky enough to catch Manhattanhenge, you might suspect that New York City is uniquely aligned within the universe. Why not use your zodiac to pick the NYC neighborhood that is right for you?
Aries (Mar 21 – April 20)

Adventurous and energetic, you can also be quick-tempered and selfish. Friends certainly see you as a fiery personality, and you can party all night! You belong in the East Village. Perhaps some of the free spirits of St. Mark’s will rub off on you — and you’ll have the confidence to lead your social group to hip hangouts like Terroir for oenophiles or beer and bro-friendly d.b.a.
Taurus (April 21 – May 21)

Reliable, loving, and determined, you have a jealous side and can be a little self-indulgent as well. Hell’s Kitchen is the place for you. You have the wherewithal to power through throngs of people whether it’s at the Annex/Hell’s Kitchen Antiques Fair and Flea Market or just a Friday night bar crawl. Plus, with its high density of new construction, Hell’s Kitchen is a great place to attend a dinner party or house party — perfect for homey, friend-loving Taurus.
Gemini (May 22 – June 21)

Geminis are known for their witty and lively personalities, but they can also be nervous, tense, and a little superficial. Their inquisitive natures lead them to belong in the Theater District. Whether you are catching the myriad of Broadway shows, taking in one of Discovery’s rotating exhibits, or just exploring the nightlife, there is always something to do. You are at the crossroads of the world, and any time you need a break, you have access to virtually every subway line.
Cancer (June 22 – July 22)

Cancers are emotional, loving, and intuitive — but they can surprise you with their moodiness. They tend to be a little touchy and even clingy. Cancers need stability and deep, regular friend groups. We recommend the West Village, where you can have camaraderie at singalong piano bar Marie’s Crisis, or make friends with the guacamole guys at Caliente Cab Company. With the quiet treelined streets, you will feel a closeness with your neighbors.
Leo (July 23 – August 21)

Generous, creative, and faithful, the lion likes to take the lead in their friend group. They don’t tolerate deviations from the plan — which is to have a great time with close friends! The Upper East Side will offer old-school New York hospitality — a bit more formal doormen and superintendents, not to mention more mannered fine dining experiences for night’s out with friends.
Virgo (August 22 – September 23)

Meticulous, intelligent, and measured, some see you as overcritical and a perfectionist. Not so, Virgo just likes to have everything in order. Try the Upper West Side for its low crime rates, mix of quiet Pre-War buildings and luxury condominiums—plus easy access to a multitude of parks.
Libra (September 24 – October 23)

Diplomatic and idealistic, Libra can be seen as too changeable or easily influenced. Many Libra admit to being labeled flirts once or twice. Might we recommend Murray Hill? This midtown-adjacent section of Manhattan actually feels like a relief from the hustle and bustle of the west side. While it has its own unique energy, there are more long-term New Yorkers in this area. You have close access to 5th Avenue shopping, as well as historic restaurants and diners. The options are endless.
Scorpio (October 24 – November 22)

Intuitive, passionate, and exciting, Scorpios have magnetic personalities, but they can also be secretive, compulsive, and excessive. Manhattan Valley, from 96th to 110th Streets; Central Park West to Broadway might be a great match for your energy. You’re away from the hustle and bustle of midtown, where you might be prone to constantly be running into your friends, but you still have access to tons of nightlife and shopping. Plus, Scorpios have no problem traveling to the party.
Sagittarius (November 23 to December 22nd)
Photo: Alexis Gordon/Flickr
The classic Sagittarius is optimistic, freedom-loving, and honest. They can sometimes be restless, tactless, or careless. Astoria, Queens is the place for you. Astoria offers a home-y suburban vibe, just minutes away from Manhattan. Sagittarius actually thrive off of the anticipation of travel — the upcoming new experiences. A 15 minute ride on the NQR will provide just the perfect amount of motivation and excitement to get things rolling. Astoria also offers a safety net, compared to Manhattan. A tight-knit community, there are many locally-owned businesses and restaurants. It’s a place you can feel known.
Capricorn (December 23 – January 20th)

Practical, patient, and somewhat reserved, Capricorns are known to be good with money and reliable — though they can also seem pessimistic. Might we recommend Washington Heights? You will save so much money in rent across the board — whether you live in an established building or new construction. Groceries are cheaper there, too. Plus, you’ll have so much to complain about: the lack of reliable bus service, the endless reggaeton music, and the parade of chickens being kept as pets.
Aquarius (January 21 to February 19th)
Photo: Joseph/Flickr
Friendly, inventive, honest, and independent, it’s hard to believe that Aquarius is a water sign. Then you hear about their other side: unpredictable and detached. A neighborhood suited to Aquarius would be Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This Williamsburg-adjacent location offers the best of both worlds: privacy or the option to “get turnt.” Many artists call Greenpoint home. They’re able to get studio space and they have access to a number of parks. Greenpoint actually has a respectably high amount of tree density, especially for a neighborhood that was the site of a huge oil spill 30 years ago — one that is still being cleaned up today.
Pisces (February 20th to March 20th)
Photo: Mike Appel/Flickr
Pisces is imaginative, sensitive, and intuitive. On the flip side, they can be escapist and secretive. Lincoln Square offers the magic and whimsy of Lincoln Center. You could take in a different opera, ballet, or symphony every single night. Or, take in the rotating collections at the New York Public Library. They recently had a Sesame Street exhibit, complete with life size Snuffleupagus.
