Fear not — using the term “on fleek” or “bye Felicia” properly in a sentence is not a prerequisite for shopping at PBteen. The retailer has its fair share of fuzzy neon bath mats and Greek letter corkboards but they also offer a rather refined selection of home furnishings and accessories.
For adolescents whose only source of disposable income is allowance money, PBteen will seem ludicrously expensive. But any adult who’s ever blown an entire paycheck on a neutral palette, slipcover sofa from Pottery Barn will find the prices of its teen subsidiary are actually a bit lower.
The Maison Bookcase is currently on sale for $479, down from $599. Inspired by Hollywood Regency design (think ornate hotel lobbies from the 1930s), this roomy bookcase is ideal for displaying keepsakes, picture frames, houseplants and your best-loved novels. Its frame is made of iron and sheet metal with an antique gold finish. The Maison bookcase measures 33.25 inches wide, 16 inches deep and 77.5 inches high (84.45 x 40.64 x 196.85 cm). Plus, if you’re embarrassed to tell your guests where you got it from, the bookcase could always pass for an antique.
