Champagne taste on a beer budget is a decorating mantra many of us live by. Maybe you’ve just moved into your first grown-up apartment or are looking for affordable ways to add intrigue to your home — whatever the case, you should know that there are alternatives to IKEA. Last year we wrote about lesser-known websites to shop for home decor, but now we’re taking it a step further with 12 budget-friendly options.
1. Cotton On, ships to the US and Canada

Cotton On has stores in 16 countries around the world, but it’s not widely known to those of us in North America. Their home section has some seriously cute finds, including wall art, hanging planters and decorative pillows.
2. Storenvy, international shipping varies

Storenvy is like Etsy without the hassle of sorting through thousands of products. The online marketplace hosts thousands of indie brands who build their custom online stores for free. Filtering their products by ‘Editor’s Picks’ is especially helpful, revealing the crème de la crème of home goods.
3. Umbra, ships internationally

You’ve probably seen Umbra products for sale at other retailers (Urban Outfitters, Target, Bed, Bath and Beyond, etc.), but you can save a couple bucks by buying direct. Their housewares boast a modern, minimalist aesthetic and are reasonably priced.
4. Zara Home, ships to most countries

In addition to clothing, Zara offers a wide array of stylish decor accents and occasional furniture. Brass plating, textured fabrics and architectural details make their products look more expensive than they actually are.
5. Canopy, ships internationally

Canopy, where have you been all our lives?! It’s Amazon, but curated by tastemakers — which will save you countless hours of browsing. Plus, everything links to Amazon, so you know the prices are unbeatable and delivery is fast.
6. Soul Makes, ships internationally

If you’re a bohemian at heart, you’ll love the House & Home shop at Soul Makes. The collection is limited but impactful — think geode candle holders, wall hangings and the occasional smudge stick.
7. World Market, does not ship outside of the US

The irony of World Market is that they do not ship internationally. Their vast selection is cheap and surprisingly durable. They also have a significant social media presence, so it’s easy to get inspired by actual customers.
8. Huset, ships internationally

Huset means “the house” in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian. Unsurprisingly, you can find a wide array of Scandinavian style homewares in their online store. While their furniture and textiles are a bit pricey, the decor accents are more reasonable.

H&M recently expanded their line of home accessories, and we are loving it! With vibrant colors, playful patterns and versatile basics, H&M makes it possible to outfit your entire home on a shoestring budget.

If you’ve walked down the aisle recently, you’re probably well aware of this wedding, events and decor site. Save on Crafts purchases its items in large quantities, and then sells them individually for a fraction of the retail price.

You don’t have to be college freshman to enjoy the stylish selection at Dormify. It’s a fantastic resource for urbanites living in small spaces, as many of the items have storage capabilities.

As the name implies, Fab is fab. Their eye for good design spans clothing, homewares, tech, art and more. We’re obsessed with their quirky throw pillows, colorful cookware and neon lamps.
