A proposal for a seven-story apartment building dubbed Inspire Echo Park has been submitted to Los Angeles City Planning. Located at 1525 Pizarro Street, the site is a stone’s throw from the lakeside park after which the neighborhood is named. Real estate development and investment firm Bond Companies is behind the project, which would deliver 90 apartments of various sizes to the area.
Plans for Inspire Echo Park call for studio to four-bedroom residences, including 10 affordable units reserved for very low-income tenants. There would be extensive amenity offerings, including a lounge, fitness center, co-working space, recreation room, pool deck, and a rooftop terrace with a club room.
The proposed development is requesting Transit Oriented Communities (TOC) incentives such as increased density and parking reductions. One level of subterranean parking and two levels of above-grade parking would be provided, totaling 82 vehicle and 68 bicycle spaces.
The property is currently occupied by a 17,551-square-foot commercial building that would be razed to make way for the multi-family residential building. HED, an architecture, engineering and design firm, is listed as the representative.
Although few details were provided in regards to the building materials, we can see from the rendering that Inspire Echo Park would feature a boxy, modern profile with a glass-encased amenity podium and a yellow, white and gray color scheme.
Future residents would be just a five-minute walk from Echo Park Lake and its peddle boats, skyline views and iconic fountains. The neighborhood is home to hip bars and restaurants, a weekly farmers’ market, vintage clothing stores and, of course, Dodger Stadium.
