The palatial penthouse in Aman New York Residences, AKA the Crown Building, is reportedly in contract to a mystery buyer for an astounding $180 million, setting a new record as New York City’s priciest sale.
When the sale closes, it would best the previous record holder by nearly $80 million, according to The Real Deal.
Located at 730 5th Avenue, The Crown Building is being developed by SHVO and Aman, and houses a total of 20 residences and 6 staff suites that range in size from 1,149 square feet to 14,000 square feet.
According to floorplans, the six-bedroom penthouse unit features 13,000 square feet spread over 5 floors. The unit’s average price per square foot totals an incredible $14,358 per square foot — also a new record, says The Real Deal.
The penthouses boasts two swimming pools, a 2,400-square-foot master bedroom suite with two full bathrooms, a piano room, three lounges, a gallery, a spacious study, a bar and a game room. And, as you would imagine, there is plenty of available closet space. There’s also a wrap-around terrace.
The building will also house Aman-branded hotel suites.
The previous priciest sale was the $100.5 million 11,000-square-foot penthouse unit at Extell Development’s One57. It was recently revealed that buyer of the unit was founder and CEO of Dell Technologies Michael Dell.
The Crown Building is currently under construction and scheduled for completion in 2020.
