Located on the east side of Liberty Village, the 7.75-acre Ordnance Triangle has undergone significant changes over the past few years. Once occupied by vacant industrial and warehouse buildings, the compact parcel of land is now home to several high-rise rental and condominium towers, including Garrison Point Condos and Novus Rentals.
The first phase of Garrison Point Condos was completed in 2020 and residents have already moved in. Next up is Novus Rentals, which is scheduled to be completed by the summer.
Developed by BentallGreenOak Residential Services and designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects, the Novus Apartment complex will house 579 units across two 34- and 25-storey towers. When complete, a 52,813-square-foot grocery store is expected to open in the project’s retail area, along with a recently announced expansive wellness centre.
Originally from Winnipeg, Altea Active has plans to open an 89,000-square-foot facility at Novus, complete with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, spa and aquatic facilities, including a 25-metre lap pool and hot tub, four Duckpin bowling lanes, a new restaurant and a Starbucks.
Plus, two Topgolf Swing Suite sports simulators will allow users to practice their golf swings with virtual games projected onto massive screens. Meanwhile, families will appreciate the Active Kids Club, which will have a dedicated infant room, indoor playground, built-in reading pods, an arts and craft area, and an interactive play zone.
Recent construction milestones include the topping out of the taller tower, followed by disassembly of the tower crane last November. Today, much of the building’s exterior, including windows and balcony glass, is completed. However, there are still sections closer to street level where cladding hasn’t been applied, and balcony railings have yet to be installed on the podium-level units. Workers are also putting the final touches on the roofs by installing precast panels and canopies over the top floor terraces on both towers.
