Onni Group of Companies’ master-planned community at Fort York is approaching completion as construction on the final tower reaches the final stages.

The 32-storey Fortune at Fort York has been under construction since spring 2017 when the surface parking lot and presentation centre at 65 Grand Magazine Street was cleared to make way for excavation. Work on the building’s underground garage continued for most of 2017, and in 2018, a tower crane was installed.

After hitting grade level in spring 2019, construction on subsequent floors was swift and the building was topped off by the start of summer 2020. Another major milestone was celebrated in late July, when a mobile crane was on site to disassemble the tower crane. By that time, the building was nearly fully enclosed with only the top floor missing its glass curtain wall. Elsewhere on the tower, balcony glass has been installed up to the 24th and 25th floors.

At ground level, workers are putting the finishing touches on the podium’s exterior which is clad in a mix of glass and red brick. The six-storey podium houses a collection of two-storey townhomes with direct access from Bruyeres Mews, Grand Magazine Street and Sloping Sky Mews.
