It’s easy to see why Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood is popular with New Yorkers.
Bushwick offers many of the same amenities as its famous hipster neighbor, Williamsburg, but for a lot less. In fact, many New Yorkers hopped on the Bushwick bandwagon to escape rising prices in Williamsburg.
As a result, the neighborhood has undergone rapid gentrification, and a boom in new condo construction has brought with it a slew of new eateries and a vibrant nightlife and bar scene. It also has reliable and easy access to public transportation — unlike its neighbor, Williamsburg, which is facing the shutdown of its primary train line (the L-train) later this year.
Yet, despite all the attention, home prices have remained relatively affordable in Bushwick, especially when compared to its bordering hipster neighborhoods. The median home value in Bushwick is currently $857,500 — still below the median price of $972,000 in nearby Williamsburg.
